Mike Mers founded Aspen Capital Management as an independent, fee-only wealth management firm specializing in financial planning, diversified portfolio design, and low-cost, customized investment solutions. He has spent years helping families and non-profits reach their long-term goals by linking those goals with appropriate financial planning and disciplined, long-term investment strategies.
Prior to founding Aspen Capital Management, Mike was a Partner with the venture capital firms Highway 12 Ventures and BRM Capital. Mike’s career in venture capital began in Portland, OR at Intel Capital where he was a Senior Manager of Strategic Equity Investments.
Before moving into the investment world, Mike spent 8 years at Hewlett-Packard in both the LaserJet and DeskJet marketing groups in Boise, ID and Vancouver, WA.
As an International Rotary Scholar, Mike received his Masters degree in Business Administration from Bristol University in England. He received his undergraduate Business degree from Boise State University.
Mike is a current board member of the Boise State University Foundation. He serves on the Foundation Board Investment Committee. Mike is the past Chairman, and current member of the Boise State University College of Business and Economics Advisor Board. In addition, he is a member of the Women's and Children's Alliance Endowment Investment Committee, and a member of the Bishop Kelly High School President's Advisory Council. Mike is a past board member of the Boise State University Bronco Athletic Association.
Mike and his wife, Lori, live in Boise and have two children. In addition to all their kids' activities, they enjoy college football - especially the Boise State Broncos. When they're not in Bronco stadium cheering on the Broncos, they enjoy spending time in the mountains of Idaho on the lake and ski slopes.
